Big Brothers Big Sisters of America
As the oldest and largest youth mentoring program in the United States, Big Brothers Big Sisters helps young people develop meaningful relationships with positive role models. The organization's goal is to help children reach their potential through these relationships, and it seems they are on the right track. Research has shown that the influence of a mentor improves children's confidence and school attendance - and they are also less likely to begin using drugs or alcohol. Founded in 1904 by Ernest Coulter, Big Brothers Big Sisters has community- and school-based mentoring programs that are fun and rewarding.
