Top 10 Reasons People Don't Give Blood
There are plenty of good reasons to give blood: saving lives and helping others are just two of them. However, people find many excuses not to donate, as the American Red Cross found when they created the Top 10 reasons people don't give blood. If you have a fear of needles or are simply too busy, you may find that after reading this list some of your justifications aren't so solid.
- I don't like needles / I am scared of needles / I am afraid to give blood.
- I am too busy.
- No one ever asked me...I didn't realize my blood was needed.
- I already gave this year.
- I am afraid I'll get AIDS.
- My blood isn't the right type.
- I don't have any blood to spare.
- I don't want to feel weak afterward.
- They won't want my blood (I am too old / I've had an illness).
- I have a rare blood type, so I'll wait until there is a special need.
